This future post will follow our upcoming research expedition to this destination.
We have visited this region many times leading group trips and we lived in nearby Melbourne for five years making this a particularly popular destination for long weekends. This upcoming expedition will allow us to get the very latest information and photos for this important post.
We have included this preview to ensure that anyone exploring our overall blog can see all the most highly recommended Australian destinations amongst our posts albeit with one or two in preview form.
This upcoming post will promote a phenomenal 4WD adventure through the Victorian High Country which can be either explored by touring with various overnights stays or alternatively you can make a base and visit the highlights on day trips.
The Victorian High Country is a massive wilderness area. Our past visits were primarily in the King, Howqua & Jamieson Rivers watersheds being the western side of the high country. This particular area will be the primary focus of our upcoming post.
As a teaser, the 'must see' attractions in this part of the high country, that will be included in the post, are:
Mt Buffalo;
Mt Stirling;
Mt Lovick;
Craigs Hut;
Howitt Plains;
Howqua Hills;
King Billy 1 & 2;
Wonnangatta Valley & the historic homestead ruins;
Various notable & iconic Cattleman's Huts;
Optional base camps in the west at Sheepyard Flat, Frys Flat & Marys Flat;

May adventure & discovery be your constant companions.
Reflection:
For me, a trip is memorable when I am enriched by a deeper sense of connection to a place which triggers an emotional or spiritual response. This comes from feelings of awe and wonder when I feel part of something bigger. Such as, seeing dramatic landscapes, being caught up in the history and sensing the passion of the human spirit.
A memorable experience will cause me to day dream about the next trip even more than the last trip.
Remember: Your adventure begins the moment you decide to go.
