Rosemary & David Allan are the faces behind Australia Through & Through.

We are dreamers with a passion for adventure and love to see others infected by our enthusiasm.

 

We provide expedition planning resources for 4WD touring adventures and share our experiences on a non-commercial basis. Our posts are written for the independent traveller with a focus on touring journeys which also include 2WD & RV touring.

 

Our mission is to spark your curiosity and enable you to fulfil your passion for adventure with your own expedition of discovery.

 

We believe adventures are an essential ingredient of life no matter how small the adventure. After all, it’s in everyone’s DNA to explore, that’s the way we are wired.

Adventuring, on any scale, can bring like minded people together, put one outside their comfort zone, increase self confidence, increase resilience, give a great sense of achievement, broaden one's horizons and lead to changed thinking.

For me, a trip is memorable when I am enriched by a deeper sense of connection to a place which triggers an emotional or spiritual response. This comes from feelings of awe & wonder when I feel part of something bigger. Such as, seeing dramatic landscapes, feeling part of the landscape, being caught up in the history and sensing the passion of the human spirit.

A memorable experience will cause me to day dream about the next trip even more than the last trip.

​

What we do:

We share our insight, experience and passion in our posts for those travellers who long for a touring adventure yet prefer to be independent to enjoy the freedom of being their own masters rather than being part of an organised commercial tour.

Our focus is on touring adventures including group expeditions with friends and family. Our insight can save you a huge amount of time in research by removing some of the guess work. We help you to embark with peace of mind and great anticipation.

In a nutshell, what we do is:

• Share our travel experiences in this blog on the ‘where’ with just enough insight to spark your curiosity and enable you to plan your own expedition of discovery;

• Share our travel experiences in this blog on the ‘how’ with hundreds of tips and insights including videos from our YouTube ‘Not Bad’ series;

​

• Share our travel stories in this blog about the characters who live in Outback Australia. The stories are not so much about an event but rather a time, an attitude, a way of life;

​

• Share rich true stories from our Group Trips many of which have become group folklore;

​

• Provide meticulous Trip Planning resources for group expeditions of friends on a non commercial basis.

​

Our Trip Planning resources, particularly for our specialty in 4WD wilderness destinations, is based on relevant sections of ‘Australian Adventure Activity Standard’ (AAAS) and ‘Adventure Activity Good Practice Guide’ (GPG) by Outdoor Council of Australia. We also reflect the ‘Four Wheel Driving Adventure Activity Standard’ (AAS) by Outdoors Victoria. We reflect the recommendations of these standards to the extent they are relevant for a group of friends doing a non-commercial trip together.

We share our experiences for friends, family and followers on a non commercial basis. Our reward is to see others infected by our enthusiasm.

 

We focus on the best of Australia, the iconic destinations - the ‘must do’ destinations. 

 

David Allan, of Australia Through & Through, has provided group expedition planning and leading for more than 60 expeditions including the most iconic destinations in Australia. This includes destinations such as the Kimberley, Purnululu World Heritage site, the Simpson Desert, iconic tracks of the South Australian Outback, Fraser Island World Heritage site, the Victorian High Country, Cape York, Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage sites, Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage sites, Kakadu National Park World Heritage site, Innamincka Regional Reserve, the Top End National Parks, the Gulf of Carpentaria Savannah & Central Australia World Heritage sites.

We are completely independent. Our posts have not been developed to promote a given region or to sell travel product but rather have been developed just to share our passion for this amazing country.

David has planned and led over 60 4WD expeditions over the last 30 years including the most iconic wilderness areas of Australia. The magnetism of these adventures keeps taking him back. David shares his experiences through these posts including the ‘where’ and the ‘how’.

 

David has lived and travelled all over Australia with a passion for exploring this great south land. David’s reward is to see other independent travellers infected by his enthusiasm.

 

David’s mission is to enable you to fulfil your passion for adventure with experiences you will talk about for the rest of your life.
